
It is the first of its kind in the Triad: the Black Mental Health Summit.

It is scheduled for May 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Enterprise Center in Winston-Salem.
Organizers said this first Black Mental Health Summit is meant to better understand the social determinants of mental health and specific psychological issues facing the Black community.
There will be panel discussions, mental health experts, equitable resources from organizations within the Piedmont Triad area, and more. Dr. Pamela Oliver, Chief Medical Officer of Novant Health, will be a keynote speaker. Chief of Winston Salem Police Department, William Penn will also speak, along with Shenell Thompson, Senior Program Officer at Kate B. Reynolds Foundation. There will also be two moderated panels.
